Florence Lanouette, E.I.T. - Geotechnical Engineer in Training
Florence is a geotechnical engineer in training with a background in geohazard risk management, applied to rock and soil mechanics. She received her undergraduate degree in Geological Engineering and her Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering at Université Laval, Quebec City, Quebec. Before joining Sitkum, Florence was involved in projects at several Hydro Québec construction sites, along railways and roads, and at mining sites in multiple regions of Quebec. Since moving to British Columbia, she has worked as a field engineer on pipeline construction in the Coast Mountains near Kitimat. Florence gained valuable experience in the field by conducting quality assurance inspections and field-fit designs. She also has a rope access background to complete terrain stability assessments along sheer rock faces.
Florence joined Sitkum in 2024. Since then, she has been involved in resource road prescriptions, drainage plans, terrain stability assessments, landslide investigations, and post-wildfire natural hazards risk analysis.
Florence has completed the Avalanche Operations Level 1 and the Avalanche Search and Rescue courses through the Canadian Avalanche Association. She looks forward to participating in snow avalanche hazard assessments and implementing avalanche safety plans with Sitkum’s Avalanche Professionals.
